Benjamin practises litigation and dispute resolution with a strong focus on disputes arising from construction, engineering, infrastructure, projects, and oil & gas matters. He has been actively involved in arbitration and court proceedings before all levels of the Malaysian courts, as well as in adjudication disputes under the Construction Industry Payment and Adjudication Act 2012 (CIPAA).

In the construction space, Benjamin advises and represents clients on a wide range of contentious issues that commonly arise in large-scale projects, including delay claims, extension of time disputes, non-payment, defects, and contract termination. He provides strategic advice from early dispute avoidance through to final resolution.

His oil & gas advisory experience covers upstream contractual arrangements such as production sharing contracts, joint operating agreements, and other frameworks for the exploration and exploitation of oil & gas resources.

Benjamin read law at the University of Malaya and graduated with Distinction, equivalent to a First Class Honours degree, finishing top of his batch. He received numerous academic honours, including the prestigious Puan Sri Haseenah Abdoolcader Gold Medal, the Tun Azmi Foundation Award, the PARFUM Advocate Prize – The Ahmad Ibrahim Award, the Tan Sri Visu Sinnadurai Academic Excellence Award, and multiple subject book prizes.

A native Mandarin speaker, Benjamin is able to analyse complex issues and provide legal advice in Mandarin. He is also part of the firm’s China Desk, advising China-based clients on both advisory and dispute resolution matters in Malaysia.
