Gan Khong Aik is a dispute resolution partner at Gan Partnership with over 25 years of experience as counsel before all levels of the Malaysian courts. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), United Kingdom, and sits on the panel of arbitrators for the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC), Borneo International Centre for Arbitration and Mediation (BICAM), and several Chinese arbitration institutions, including an international arbitration court. He is also an accredited mediator with the Malaysian Mediation Centre, AIAC, and BICAM.
Khong Aik’s practice spans a wide range of complex disputes, including corporate and commercial litigation, defamation, insolvency and liquidation, land and property matters, anti-bribery and corruption, insurance and reinsurance claims, and employment and industrial relations. He regularly represents directors, shareholders, and companies in high-stakes disputes, including reputational claims. Known for his commercially astute and legally rigorous approach, he is recognised for being responsive, practical, and humble — making him a well-rounded and sought-after counsel.
He was counsel in a landmark Federal Court decision that marked a pivotal development in Malaysia’s arbitration landscape. Drawing from his deep experience in corporate disputes, he also advises companies on corporate governance, corporate liability, and insurance claims.
